About this restaurant

Sea Rocket Bistro

Described by fishermen who supply them as a "boat to throat" restaurant. Uber green Sea Rocket has been built around a theme of sustainability and recycling. Even the ceiling is lined with old egg boxes to deaden noise and to provide a simple - and cheap - form of insulation. Starters average $9; fish stew: $16; fish paella: $18. Four stars on Google.

They say...

Sea Rocket Bistro serves a menu of truly local flavor, using ingredients sourced directly from farmers, fishermen, and ranchers in San Diego and focusing on sustainably harvested seafood, organic produce and pastured meats, as well as local craft beers and California wines.

We say...

Farm-to-table and boat-to-throat sums up Sea Rocket. Undoubtedly one of the best restaurants we have reviewed for its ethical sourcing mainly due to the rich green vein of sustainability that runs through all the restaurant's policies. If it's fresh, local and sustainable then chances are it's on the menu. Dedication to the sustainability cause earns respect from visitors and Sea Rocket certainly gets our vote. The four Blue Fish score reflects an outstanding restaurant.

My current favorite place to eat in San Diego. Fantastic, fresh, local food; knowledgeable, friendly service; excellent local microbrews, often paired wonderfully with the dishes - all at very reasonable prices and zero snootiness.

The grilled sardines - whole sardines speared on a skewer and grilled - are a tasty appetizer.
