About this restaurant

The restaurant began life as a humble boat rental and bait house more than 70 years ago.It transformed firstly into a coffee house, then a fish and chips cafe and finally, by the early 1970s, a full-blown restaurant. Occupying a prime spot overlooking Puget Sound it burned to the ground in May 1987 and had to be rebuilt. Almost spookily, it suffered a second less serious fire almost 10 years to the day later. Two fish courses: about $44. Four stars on Google.

They say...

Ray's Boathouse is world-renowned for its impeccably fresh North West seafood. Our culinary professionals, led by Executive Chef Peter Birk, hand select the best products from local purveyors and then prepare them simply to enhance the naturally fresh, clean flavors and succulent textures. The menu changes weekly to reflect what is seasonally and locally available.

We say...

A North-West waterside seafood specialist with much of the fish on offer - salmon, halibut, crab and scallops - coming from Alaskan waters. Ray's has built its reputation on fresh seafood and locally grown produce and was one of the first restaurants to purchase a license allowing it to buy directly from local fishermen. It is rightly proud of its sustainability policies particularly with the relationship it has built over the years with local boats. This is a four Blue Fish restaurant which has our full support.
