About this restaurant

Describes itself as " sustainable seafood joint" and lives up to the billing. This is the second restaurant opened by Zach Kell in Canton, the other being the successful Downtown Kitchen. A third restaurant is in preparation, also downtown.
Goin Coastal has a 'vintage laundered' look housed in an historic storefront and featuring distressed brickwork and rough timber. The walls are decorated with old pictures of fishermen. It offers casual fine dining to a background of live music.
Goin Coastal's main selling point, apart from its food, is its stance on sustainability. The restauant makes clear that it only serves high quality seafood, wild or farmed, from sustainable stocks.
It features standard array of southern seafood including oysters, shrimp and crab cake with daily specials such as Alaskan halibut and ivory king salmon.
Two fish courses: about $32.
Four stars on Google.
They say...
Goin Coastal is a sustainable seafood joint. We feature only the highest quality seafood from sources, either fished or farmed that can exist over the long term without compromising species' survival or the health of the ecosystem. So why does this matter? With over 75% of the world fisheries either fully fished or underfished, we believe the choices we make will help to enhance the seafood marketplace for all consumers. Thank you for supporting the sustainable seafood movement by GOIN COASTAL.
We say...
A very welcome attitude from a newcomer that seems to have enlivened seafood lovers in Canton who might previously have had to travel to Atlanta to find a similar restaurant. Zack Kell and partner Seth Hendricks deserve credit for setting out their stall so confidently and making sustainably-sourced fish the key selling point.
It is heartening to read reviews in which diners tell of the restaurant being constantly busy demonstrating that discerning diners will seek out places which are trying to make a difference - as long as the food tastes good!
The owners were quite happy to tell us where their fish come from and it is particularly pleasing to see such under-utilised species as sustainably-farmed rainbow trout on the menu.
Goin Coastal is clearly goin places and fully deserves its 3.5 Blue Fish score.

Having grown up Coastal, it was very nice to have a place nearby that actually sells really good seafood. It's hard to find this far inland but Goin' Coastal really does impress.
