Sustainable fish, great cooking, and a wonderful ambience…it must be Fish2fork’s first competition prize.
March 07 2011 Lewis Smith
The dinner for two at the four blue fish Soseki restaurant in London was won by Becci Collacott who said after enjoying her prize that she’d had "a great evening".
Her name had been picked at random from the entries to the prize draw announced in the first Fish2fork newsletter at the beginning of the year. Soseki, which has one of the highest blue fish ratings, played host to Becci early in February and she came out having had an evening to remember.
"We had a brilliant evening - the food is fantastic, lots of it, all delicious, and not just the sushi items we've all come to know," she said.
"The dishes were all beautifully presented too, truly artistic! In addition to the food, the restaurant has a lovely ambience and as is traditional with many sushi restaurants, it's lovely to see the chefs quietly making the food in front of your eyes. The service was brilliant and all staff knew exactly what they were serving up."
The restaurant, which was founded by the sustainable fishing campaigner Caroline Bennett, serves food selected by the chefs on the basis of what is in season and available. In its Fish2fork review it is described as "a bastion of sustainability".
